Question, Very close
Is it normal to miss a flat you were miserable in? I walked past my old one tonight and nearly cried.

The feeling
A secret from two streets away. A confession from across town. A thought from someone in your building. No names, no faces — just what’s true.
Question, Very close
Is it normal to miss a flat you were miserable in? I walked past my old one tonight and nearly cried.
Rant, 1–3 km away
Whoever keeps putting the empty oat milk carton back in the office fridge: I see you. I have always seen you.
Advice, 3–10 km away
If you’re waiting for the right moment to call your dad, there isn’t one. I called mine today. We talked about nothing for an hour. It was everything.
Spicy, 1–3 km away
Someone on the 8:14 always reads over my shoulder. Today I turned the page before I’d finished, just for them.
Confession, 10–25 km away
I tell everyone I’m a morning person. I’ve hit snooze eleven times today.
Thought, 3–10 km away
Rain on the window, kettle on, nowhere to be. Some evenings are just perfect and nobody needs to know.
Thought, Very close
There’s someone singing incredibly badly somewhere in this building and it’s genuinely made my morning.
Secret, Very close
I still fall asleep with the radio on, because silence reminds me of the year I lived alone.
Question, 10–25 km away
How do you tell your best friend you’re moving away without it feeling like you’re leaving them?
Wholesome, 3–10 km away
An old man on the bus gave up his seat, then talked to the woman who took it about tomatoes for twenty minutes. They both looked delighted.
Advice, Very close
Mute anyone who makes you feel worse. Then go for a walk. Then drink some water. In that order.
Rant, 10–25 km away
Why does every “quick catch-up” last an hour? Nothing quick has ever been caught up.
Spicy, 3–10 km away
I chose my café because of the barista’s smile. Third week running. I don’t even like flat whites.
Secret, 3–10 km away
I secretly leave £20 in library books whenever I finish one I loved.
How it works
Up to 600 characters. A secret, a confession, a thought, a question, a rant, some advice, something wholesome — or something a little spicy.
Your words become a designed card. Pick a typeface and a gradient, search for a photo, or use your own — stripped of location and camera data on your phone first.
Browse Near Me, Fresh, Trending or Closest, filter by category, or switch to Everywhere. React, comment, save, and follow conversations — never people.
Keep it, or let it disappear after 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days. Changed your mind? Choose Release this post, and it fades away.
Gone.
Local without being creepy
Talk privately, only by consent
A private conversation can only be requested from a post. The author chooses Accept or Ignore, and the person asking is never told which.
No directory. No random matching. No typing indicators, no read receipts.
Safe by design
Other people never see who you are. But Sotto keeps a private internal account, so breaking the rules has consequences — even here.
Everything is screened before it publishes.
Any post, comment, message or request.
It takes effect straight away, and works both ways.
Human moderators review reports, and every decision is recorded.
Support resources are built into the app. Sotto isn’t a crisis service, and says so.
Sotto is for people aged 18 and over.
Free and VIP
Genuinely complete.
Supported by a few clearly labelled ad cards in the feed. No pop-ups, and never while you’re writing.
A little more, if you want it.
Auto-renewing, billed through Apple. See in-app for pricing.
Safety and privacy are never paid features.
Nobody using Sotto can see who you are. There are no usernames, no profiles and no follower counts.
Sotto does keep a private internal account, so blocking, reporting and moderation work. If you secure it with Sign in with Apple or an email link, that’s only so you can recover it — it’s never shown to anyone.
No. Location is used only while the app is open, and only if you allow it. Your phone rounds it to roughly 200 m before sending it.
Other people see a distance band like “1–3 km away” — never a map pin or an exact distance. The Everywhere feed works without location at all.
Only someone responding to one of your posts, and only if you say yes. You choose Accept or Ignore, and they’re never told which.
There’s no directory, no random matching, no typing indicators and no read receipts. Nobody owes anyone a conversation.
Reporting takes two taps. Your report goes to the safety team with the context they need, and a human moderator reviews it. They can remove content, limit its reach, restrict an account or suspend it, and every decision is recorded.
You can also block anyone instantly. Blocking works both ways.
In the app, go to Me → Account & Data. You can export everything you’ve created, or delete your account and its content. It’s free, always.
To remove a single post, choose Release this post. Reports and moderation records are kept in minimised form where safety or the law requires it.
